Ranch homes traditionally are on a single story with a long, low roofline. Their asymmetrical rectangular, L-shaped, or U-shaped design and their simple, open floor plans allow you to keep an eye on your children and provide much needed space for entertaining. The large windows, often decorated with shutters provide plenty of natural light. The living areas are traditionally separate from the bedroom(s) area giving you privacy. There is also usually an attached garage. Many homes of this style feature sliding glass doors opening onto a patio. The exteriors are usually stucco, brick, wood, and glass with large overhanging eaves and a cross-gabled, side-gabled or hip roof. The vaulted ceilings have exposed beams giving off a simple and rustic interior and exterior trim.
